Granderson, Jackson, Scherzer Highlight 7 Player 3 Team Trade

Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated tweeted that the Arizona Diamondbacks, Detroit Tigers, and New York Yankees have agreed on a trade that would have Curtis Granderson (Detroit Tigers, CF), Edwin Jackson (Detroit Tigers, SP), and Max Scherzer (Arizona Diamondbacks, SP) switching teams. Tyler Kepner of the New York Times explained earlier that Austin Jackson (Yankees, CF), Phil Coke (Yankees, RP), Max Sherzer, and Daniel Schlereth (Diamondbacks, RP) would go to the Tigers; Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy (Yankees, SP) to the Diamondbacks, and Curtis Granderson to the Yankees.

The trade is pending physicals.

  1. Not bad, the yanks move melky over to left and keep swisher in right. I guess johnny will have to find a new team

  2. Despite my personal feelings I must agree that the granderson trade is pretty good idea. Granderson is abysmal against lefty’s and still strikes out too much/doesn’t steal often enough to be a lead off man. It’s possible that he may have peaked in the ’06 season and this is the highest value the tigers would ever get for him. Edwin Jackson though? This guy eats up innings like crazy. In return the tiger’s got an unproven starter/reliever who’s only a year younger, an unproven reliever, and an average at best reliever? If Dave Dombrowski comes out on top on this one I’ll never think he’s dumb again because this is some nostradamus type foresight.
