Tim Marchman of Sports Illustrated recently ranks all 30 Major League General Managers. So we must ask ourselves how do you measure a GM’s success? Is it dollars spent per win? Playoff appearances? Do you take into account the minor league system and player development? The Twins may not be a power house but they [...]

The American League Central Division has always been an enigma. There never seems to be a dominant team that can run away with the division title. The Twins put together a consistent product but they aren’t guaranteed to win every year like the Yankees. The Royals are trying to keep their heads above water and [...]

The development of talent has been a struggle for the Chicago White Sox for a while now. The selection of Gordon Beckham in the eighth round of the 2008 draft was the first time in seventeen years the White Sox had a pick in the top 10. They had an overall average placement of 20th during that time frame. The overall success of the major league club during the 90′s and 00′s depleted the minor league system. However with the addition of Buddy Bell as the Director of Minor League Instruction the White Sox look to turn things around.

Bruce Levine of ESPNChicago.com is reporting that the Chicago White Sox and shortstop Omar Vizquel are very close to a deal. This does not surprise me in the slightest. Vizquel still has a great glove even though he is definitely up there in years. He would be a great backup for shortstop Alexei Ramirez and [...]

With the AL’s domination over the NL for the better part of decade, general managers are having a harder time evaluating how a player will perform if they transition from the NL to the AL. Matt Holliday, for example, was a dominant player for the Rockies hitting well above .300. He was traded to the Oakland A’s where [...]
